The collage includes identifiable pieces by Ming dynasty painters Cui Zizhong and Shen Shichong, including Cui Zizhong's celebrated Lady in the Clouds, which depicts a celestial "Jade Woman" from Chinese mythology. Other scenes draw inspiration from imagery associated with the Khitan-led Liao dynasty. Spanning more than 700 years of Chinese artistic history, this remarkable design is one of the more unusual and historically intriguing wallpapers produced during the 1970s.
